THE POWER


It pays to believe the truth. If I go to Melbourne Airport and get on a new Dreamliner that I believe is going to LA, but I have made a mistake and it is actually going to Beijing, I will end up in Beijing. Grace and wishful thinking will not make me arrive in LA, no matter how much I enthuse to other passengers about my anticipated vacation in Los Angeles. Same in the Kingdom sphere.

What we believe about what God has done in Christ effects where we are going and how we are doing it. Our beliefs largely determine what we think is real. Grace does not overcome bad theology and wrong belief. This is why we need to be on board with what God has already done and take note of teaching such as Joseph Prince’s
The Power of Right Believing. The Right Belief he explains is the right belief about the new covenant and our security in fellowship with God today and everyday. This Right Belief is not only about salvation. It is about our being. It’s about our being spirit and life rather than flesh and dullness.

The Enemy seek to rob us of good theology because he knows bad theology suffocates the life of the Kingdom of Heaven among us. We do not love people when we leave them in bad theology.

Jesus was emphatic. He said the flesh accomplishes nothing – nothing that, is for the Kingdom of heaven. But a lot, unfortunately for the kingdoms of religion, because if we are attached to law and performance, we are not in the Spirit.

‘The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you--they are full of the Spirit and life’ John 6.63 NIV.

The flesh in the Bible can stand for a rebellious carnality or a religious one. Anything done in Adam is carnal, whether this be done in spite of God or towards Him. This is not because God does not like us. It is because He has given us a
new and living way to live in the Spirit through His Son. Life is sourced in our Father. It makes its way to us through His Son and Holy Spirit. He has everything covered. It remains for us to agree that we are covered in the spirit of sonship.

Jesus words and acts were spirit and life because He was the Son of His Father. Unlike Adam, the New Adam believed God, trusted His Father and expressed His Father’s life. As a son He lived Father’s purpose for Him in the identity that was His own. As the Son of God He was I AM. As the Son of Man He was I AM. Here He was completely His authentic self and the exact expression who He was made to be. He lived His purpose authentically and fulsomely in doing that which His Father sent Him to do. This is our inheritance. All that Jesus has is ours. Just step into it.

Jesus was both a Son and the spirit of sonship in person. Unlike fallen Adam Jesus lived from above. He was the life of heaven, not the life of the earth. Unlike Adam after the fall, Jesus and His Father were one. After the fall Adam was separated from Father. Made from the earth He was of the earth and not of the Spirit and life and of heaven. He was of the flesh. This is why we must live in Jesus and not in Adam and Moses.

Jesus was all spirit and life. He is the new Adam as a son of God and the new Adam as the Father of the human race. To see Jesus is to see our Father and to know Him in spirit and in truth. Jesus’ life is our life. Vicariously Jesus is every man and every woman. We are His church wherever His life is the manifestation of our lives individually and collectively. This is why we must live in Him and never in laws, regulations, churchianity or celebrity persons.

Speaking of Jesus, John the Baptist said “The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all” John 3.31 NIV.

There are folks, good and sincere believers who wish to do right and spread the Kingdom near and far. But stalled in the old covenant they remain in the earth when they have new soil in which to live - the soil of the Son of Man that is also the being of our eternal Father. There is no deeper soil than this and it is spirit and life.

It is not sufficient to have the Holy Spirit alone to minister in the Spirit of Sonship. People could be led by Holy Spirit before the cross. None could be incarnated with God however. There had as yet been no Christ. To continue to live from the law or from a Christian performance mode is to considerably castrate our relationship with God, dull the reality of our union by the One Spirit and commit ourselves to dimness of spiritual perception. Law-bound Believers are notoriously dim in perceiving the difference between Kingdom and religion. It’s all the same to them which means they can spend a lot of time ingesting the peripheral and missing the substance.

We cannot bolt Holy Spirit onto law and old covenant and think we are in the Spirit or ministering the Kingdom of Heaven. This is not the Kingdom. Spirit and life will not be present. Sure, a few droplets of life can get through on account of grace but not the fullness and unlimited authority that belongs to all who live in a reality greater than that of John the Baptist. This is the reality in which Christ is our life, that we are in Christ; that since we are in Christ and He in us, we are with Him in the trinity – right among them by right in the Holy Family and twice one with God. One with God because we have been placed where we belong and one with God because when we believe in Jesus the Holy Family makes its home in us!

‘For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God’ Eph 3.14-19.
